Drive-by update.

I know it’s been awhile since I’ve written, mainly because I haven’t really had much to say. School and work are both going, nothing exciting at all. Only a week and a half left in this class, so I’m pretty happy about that. Not that I don’t like it, but it’s particularly boring.

I am rather looking forward to this weekend, though. On Friday, I’m meeting up with the Blonde and I’m going to learn everything I need to know about being a debate judge- because on Saturday, I will be judging my first debate tournament! I’m really looking forward to it, actually. It’s also a friend’s birthday, so Saturday night a group of us are going to dinner and then back to their house for some drinks and games. It’s bound to be a blast!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful week!

A day in pictures.

A quick post from me tonight... Yesterday, I had the joy of spending the day with the Blonde, my sister, and the lovely E.G. We had a quick breakfast followed by a day at the Bridal Festival. The Blonde is engaged, and I am lucky enough to call myself one of her bridesmaids. Adore that girl, seriously.

So here's a glimpse of how our day went...

Some delicious coffee and a bagel to serve as fuel...

As we approached the Spokane Convention Center, it was a crisp 20 degrees outside. I cannot count how many times I almost fell walking the streets of downtown.

The lovely ladies.

Sister time <3

Also, slight photobombs going on over our shoulders.

Impatiently waiting for the fashion show to start, I snapped a picture of the backs of peoples' heads.

Trying out the trolley that the passengers pedal. We are seriously considering renting it for the Blonde's bachelorette party. Plus side? The guy in charge was hilarious and not at all put off by our unique senses of humor. He took the suggestion of adding a go-go dancer cage to the top of the trolley very graciously!

Isn't she lovely?

After the convention, we sauntered over to Olive Garden and had a lovely late lunch. Early dinner? I'm really not sure. All I know is it was delicious and we had a great time. Unfortunately, my phone was dying and I wasn't able to capture the mealtime festivities.

Musicals. Musicals everywhere!

One of my aspirations has always been to audition for a play or a musical. I’ve never acted before, though I’ve always been interested. I came close to being in the Wizard of Oz in high school but couldn’t afford the fee required.

Anyways, the Blonde is auditioning for Grease this March, and has asked me to audition with her. I agreed, and I am terrified and also really excited. The theater that is putting on the play is the largest in our area, and the cast is fairly small, but hey, I think I’d make an awesome Jan.

That’s right, I said Jan. I love me some Jan. Remember her?

I think her character is underappreciated and hilarious and hey, she loves food and I love food so it seems fitting.

In order to get ready for the audition, I need to work on getting into better shape. I’m not going to lie - I could stand to lose a few pounds. Okay, more than a few. Anyways, I’m going to start working toward being more active and more conscientious of what I’m eating, drink more water, all that good stuff. I have to be able to dance, and sing, and dance and sing at the same time… Will be interesting!

In other news, I think it can officially be said that Angelica and I are completely and totally obsessed with Les Miserables. We’ve each seen either the 10th or the 25th anniversary concerts multiple times in the past week (I lost count), which are amazing, just FYI. We’ve acquired the soundtracks. Yes, soundtracks. It’s plural on purpose. She hadn’t seen the movie yet, so I took her yesterday and we had a Les Mis lady date. Seriously, addicted.

Hope this post finds you well!

New Year's Eve

Alright, so this post is a little late, as it’s technically the 4th already, but hey, I’ve been busy ringing in the new year and going on lady dates with my best friend and such.

I had an absolutely fantastic New Year’s Eve, mostly because I spent it with some of my favorite people. One of my best friends (whom I affectionately refer to as ‘the blonde’) invited me to her home to ring in the New Year with her and her fiancĂ©. Originally, there were supposed to be a few other people, but plans fell through and so it was just the three of us.

Her and I spent most of the day watching the 25th anniversary Les Miserables concert and geeking out, and then we watched a recording of a stage version of The Wizard of Oz in which her fiancé played the cowardly lion (and did an amazing job).

In a stroke of luck, another of my best friend’s was able to join us in the evening, and the four of us played some card games and had some drinks. I was planning on taking plenty of pictures, but we got so caught up in our games and having fun that we didn’t remember to photograph the night. We almost missed midnight because we were having so much fun.

With four minutes to midnight, we managed to rush and get in some last pictures of 2013 and then set off a couple fireworks as the clock struck midnight.

Cosmopolitans with the blonde.

Last picture of the three of us before 2013!

Fireworks!

First official best friend picture of 2013!

I was planning on typing up a few hilarious quotes from the evening, of which there were a ton, but, well, as I was sufficiently inebriated I don’t really have enough recollection of what all was said to make a list.

However, there is this gem from Angelica while we were playing a card game called Rocketship. The first round of the game, each person is supposed to guess the color of their card. When it got to Angelica’s turn, this is what happened:

The Blonde: “Angelica: red or black?”
Angelica: “Blue!”

She was completely serious. It took her almost an entire minute to realize why the three of us were laughing so hard.

I hope everyone out there in the blogosphere had a wonderful New Year’s, and I wish everyone the best of luck in 2013!
